Thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/UPWQxv\">this week&#8217;s free DSLR video tip movie from Lynda.com<\/a>\u00a0I learned a couple of quick tips about apps, cables, and external mics for the iPhone.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, I really want to go back and look at all those <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lynda.com\/video-tutorials\/DSLR-Video-Tips\/103707-2.html\">DSLR video tips from Rich Harrington &amp; Robbie Carman<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>External Mics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Audio is only as good as the input. That means you need a good mic. I&#8217;ve heard about <a href=\"http:\/\/bluemic.com\/\">Blue Mic<\/a> for a while. The <a href=\"http:\/\/bluemic.com\/mikey_digital\/\">Mikey<\/a> is customized as a portable mic solution for iPhones &amp; iPads. \u00a0It will cost you about $80 &#8211; $100, depending upon the retailer. Here&#8217;s a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pocket-lint.com\/news\/48808\/hands-on-blue-microphones-mikey-digital-review\">detailed review of the Mikey<\/a> with photos of it attached to an iPhone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Apps<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Looks like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.revuptransmedia.com\/index.php\/icons\/pro-audio-to-go\">Pro Audio To Go<\/a> is the best of breed app for field recording. At $29.99 it&#8217;s an expensive app, but an iOS developer myself I can tell you that I&#8217;m sure a tremendous amount of work went into that product. \u00a0Here&#8217;s a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.handheldhollywood.com\/latest-news\/pro-audio-to-go-helps-your-iphone-capture-high-quality-audio.html\">review<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cables<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Got to have the right cables. I&#8217;m always getting confused on <em>line in, XLR\u00a0<\/em>and other cable sites.
