Greasemonkey & American Memory

American Memory provides some of the best digital material on the net. Yet, it always has suffered from a bad design and usability problems. Simon Willison has released a greasemonkey script that modifies the interface of the America from the Great Depression to World War II: Color Photographs from the FSA-OWI, 1939-1945 collection. Simon’s script itself isn’t that much of an improvement, but I suspect that Simon knows that. His main point with the script is to show the possiblities of greasemonkey for improving such sites. Or, as he says, “great content spoiled by poor navigation is a solvable problem.” It’s also great content spoiled by poor design. It would be interesting to see what a real graphic designer could do with greasemonkey and the American Memory collections.

Back to Endless Hybrids

After a 3 month absence from this blog, I’ve returned to focus on it more. My blogging focus recently has been on Buenos Aires, City of Faded Elegance. I’m going to be keeping that site up-to-date with cultural, historical, political, and social information about Buenos Aires but I also will be blogging more here at Endless Hybrids.

Endless Hybrids also now has its own new address, endlesshybrids.com.

Endless Hybrids also is featuring a great new design from sorodesign.com.

Essentially, Endless Hybrids will my professional Web spot for discussing issues relating to libraries & digital media.
